Eine Seidenbiene

Eine Seidenbiene bei der Arbeit. Eigentlich war ich im Botanischen Garten von Purto de la Cruz (Jardín de aclimatación de La Orotava) unterwegs um ein paar Pflanzen Makros zu machen. Aber zu dem Zeitpunkt blühte dort eine riesige Dyckia (bromeliaceae dyckia altissima) und war wohl der Anziehungspunkt für alle Bienen in der Umgebung. Jedenfalls summte und schwirrte es dort wie wild. Und die Bienen waren so sehr abgelenkt von den Blüten, das sie keine Angst vor meiner Kamera hatten. Das einzige was sie waren, war schnell. Sehr schnell. Es gab also eine Menge an Ausschuss bei den Bildern. Ich glaube ich habe fast 2 Stunden vor der Pflanze verbracht und rum probiert. Aber am Ende sind ein paar sehr schöne Bienen Makros bei raus gekommen. Hätte vorher selbst nicht gedacht das es so viel Spaß macht.

Der Eintritt in den Park ist recht günstig, glaube 3€ oder so, und man kann dort ungestört fotografieren. Auch an meiner „großen“ Ausrüstung hat sich niemand gestört. Ich war mit einem Einbein Stativ und einem 150er Makro dort unterwegs. War eigentlich eher das gegenteil. Ich habe recht viel Aufmerksamkeit auf die Bienen und die Pflanze gelenkt und es sind immer mehr Besucher zum fotografieren dort hin gekommen. Falls es sich hierbei nicht um eine Seidenbiene (Colletes hederae) handel sollte, gebt mir bitte bescheid. Ich kenne mich nicht wirklich mit Bienen aus, und habe versucht sie über das Internet zu bestimmen.

This is a Ivy Bee I guess. If not, please feel free to correct me. I am not an expert with bees. All pictures are taken at the botanic garden in Purto de la Cuz with a Monopod and a 150er macro lens. There was a huge blooming dyckia in the middle of the garden, and all the bees seemed to be crazy about that. The bees don`t cared about me, because there was a lot of bee traffic at the flower.

Sonnenuntergang in der Bucht von La Pared

La Pared. Der kleine Ort an der Westküste von Fuerteventura. Bekannt vor allem bei Surfern. Von denen sich viele in der Bucht tummeln. An sonsten gibt es ein Stück außerhalb noch einen ca 800m langen, wilden Sandstrand. Sehr schön abgelegen, wenig los. Die Bucht selber ist eher steinig. Zum surfen bestimmt super, aber als reiner Badestrand eher nicht. So wirklich ins Wasser gehen sollte man in dem Teil von Fuerteventura sowieso nicht. Die Ströhmung und die Wellen sind viel zu stark. An sonsten kann man nicht viel über La Pared sagen. Es ist recht abgelegen. Am Rand gibt eine Ferienanlage die mal ein Geheimtipp gewesen sein soll. Zum Zeitpunkt meines Besuches war sie aber still gelegt.

Gab laut Internet Probleme zwischen den Arbeitern und dem Management. Neben der Bucht gibt es noch einen Felsvorsprung auf den man klettern kann. Und an sonsten jede Art von Ferienhaus. Mehr konnte ich nicht entdecken. Wie man sehen kann sind wir nachmittags dort vorbei gekommen und bis zum Sonnenuntergang geblieben 🙂 An diesem Tag hab ich übrigens zum ersten mal einen Graufilter für die Langzeitbelichtung getestet. Vor dem Urlaub hatte ich mir einen Haida Pro II Serie MN ND 1000 geholt. Bis jetzt kann ich nichts negatives über den Filder sagen. Konnte keine sichtbaren Quallitätsverluste fest stellen, und auch keine Farbverschiebung.

La Pared is a small, well known surfer village at the westcoast of Fuerteventura. There is a small bay with a lot of stones. Not realy ready for a beach holliday. And a longer, empty wild beach, a little bit outside the village. There is also a former famous Hotel, but it is empty now. The interent told us, there has been trouble between the management and the employee. We arrived there at afternoon and stayed there till the sundown was over. You realy need a car on this island.

Costa Adeje Sonnenuntergang

Sonnenuntergang in Costa Adeje. Hinter dem Playa del Duque Strand in Richtung La Caletta. Dort gibt es zwichem den Sheraton und dem H10 Hotel eine kleine Klippe mit Bank und Aussichtspunkt. Von dort aus hat man einen guten Blick über das ganze Gebiet. Vom Casa del Duque bis La Caletta.

Und in der Ferne sieht man dann La Gomera. Genau dort, wo auch die Sonne unter geht. Jeh nach Jahreszeit geht sie genau hinter La Gomera unter, oder rechts daneben. Man kanns ehr schön beobachten wie die Sonne dann an der Silhouette von La Gomera entlang wandert. Interessanter Weise war bei dem Aussichtspunkt nie wirklich viel Los. So gefühlt waren zum Zeitpunkt des Sonnenuntergangs schon immer alle beim Essen. Na ja die meißten haben wohl „all inclusive“ und Angst irgend was zu verpassen, oder jemand könnte ihnen das beste Stück Fleisch weg essen. 🙂 Ist doch immer so. Und am besten gleich noch das Handtuch für den nächten Tag schon mal auf die Liege gelegt.

The Sundown in Costa Adeje. Behind the Playa del Duque beach, in direction to La Caletta is a view point. On top of a small cliff. Right between the Sheraton and the H10 Hotel. There you have a good view for watching the sun going down behind La Gomera. And it is empty there at this time. Most of the all inclusive people are back at the hotels for lunch. They are afraid, someone else could get a better part of the meal. 🙂 I have been 3 times on this view point, and only met one other couple there at this time.

Die blaue Tür // The blue door

Neben dem Hafens von Puerto del Rosario auf Fuerteventura. Rechts hinter der Hafenmauer, gibt es ein altes verlassenes Meerwasser Schwimmbad. Und im Anschluß, direkt am Wasser, stehen ein paar alte Häuse die aus sehen als würden sie den Kampf gegen das Meer verlieren. Besonders ins Auge gefallen ist mir die blaue Tür eines der Häuser.

Die blaue Tür // The blue Door Ich muß ja sagen, Puerto del Rosario ist keine wirklich schöne Stadt. Jedenfalls nicht die Teile die ich davon gesehen habe. Der Hafen ist warscheinlich sehr zweckmäßig, aber als Hafen zum an schauen, na ja. Und dem Viertel das sich dann links seits dem Hafen an schließt kann man die hohe Arbeitslosigkeit auf der Insel schon an sehen.

I found the blue door at an area of old and heavy used houses right by the sea. On the left side of Puerto del Rosarios harbour. The houses looked for me as they have lost the fight against the sea a few years ago. Right by the houses is an old salt water pool area. But the pools looked as there have been no one in in the last ten years. Puerto del Rosario is no the most beautiful city at Fuerteventura. There are much nicer placed to visit.

Big Birds Portrait

Big Birds Portraits. Some shots of big birds taken at zoos. I dont realy like the zoo ambience or the zoo mood. I allways try to put it out of the picture or to blur it out. If this is not possible, I don t take the picture. Thats why you mostly see the heads of biger animals on my page. You don t have the problem when you do macro shots 🙂

La Gomera hiking impressions

My La Gomera hiking impressions. Taken at a hiking trip to La Gomera last year. The clouds move throu the mountains. The trees are milking the water out of the clouds. That makes the wood very wet and foggy. Its a dark and silent mood out there. Like beeing in a fairytale. We did a hiking trip over the island. From the sunny coast deep into the mountains. We also met a lot of backpackers there. There are a few camping possibilities. But you can also do day trips there. With the ferry Tenerife or something like that.

Faro de Maspalomas Silhouettes

Faro de Maspalomas. In the south of Gran Canaria. On the right side to the Dunas de Maspalomas. Between Maspalomas and Meloneras. At spring time the sun goes down right behind the Faro de Maspalomas. A lot of tourists are there. Mustly concentrated on her smartphones, posting and twittering what a nice sundown they are watching. I took this pictures with my Nikon 70-200mm standing at the end of the dunas. About 200 meters away from the lighthouse. Nobody takes notice of me. The whole scenery looked for me like a chinese shadow puppetry. So I did the exposure time two stops down and startet taking some pictures against the sundown.

A Bald Eagle in the Air

The Bald Eagle. Open winged. High in the air. Showing us his beauty. The beauty of a real raptor. Sadly I have never seen one in wildlife. Just at bird shows. It`s not a european bird, and my area has no more eagles. Here are just airplanes in the air, and some hawks. So I have to go to bird shows. This Bald Eagle shots are taken on my last holiday at Gran Canaria. At the Palmitos Park exotic Birds free flight show. With my Nikon 70-200mm lens. No I spend money for a hew lens. I need something that goes till 500mm or more.

Historical Satellite Dishes

There are a lot of Molinos and Molinas around Fuerteventura. They have a different architecuture as the windmills in north europa. There wings have the size of satellite dishes for broadcastind something. So for me they look like a kind of historical satellite dishes. Like they have broadcasted something centurys ago with thouse historical satellite dishes. A signal to the great ships who conquered the new world. But the wings size makes sense because Fuerteventura is full of wind. You have more a problem with to much wind as with to low. A lot of Thouse Molinos and Molinas are very small. I guess many farmers have had there own.

Squirrels and Ravens

There are not much animals at Fuerteventura. Some Goats, Rabbits, Seagulls and a lot of Squirrels and Ravens. Mostly I saw the Squirrels and Ravens on the same place. They seems to live in something like a symbiosis. They share the same food source. Tourists 🙂 who feed them. And thats a big problem there. The Squirrels, exactly Barbary Ground Squirrel (Atlantoxerus getulus) are like a plaque for the island. They where brought by humans th this island in the early 1965er because they are so sweet and friedly and now they are eating everything there. Thats a big problem for the barren nature there and for the ther animals.

I am not shure if the bird is a Raven or a Crow. I could read the differences at wikipedia, but its hard for me to use this knowlege in real life 🙂 So feel free to contact me what kind of Raven or Crow the black birds are.

Fuerteventura ist voll von Atlashörnschen und Raben. Sie scheinen in einer art Symbiose zu leben. Jedenfalls waren über all wo ich auf die Hörnchen getroffen bin auch die Raben nicht weit. oder sind es Krähen? ich kann die immer nur schwer auseinander halten. irgendwie ist für mich alles was schwarz und größer als eine Amsel ist ein Rabe. Die Atlashörnschen sind zwar sehr zutraulich und fressen sogar aus der Hand, aber für Fuerteventura sind sie eine große Plage. Irgendwann 1965 wurden sie aus Marokko eingeführt weil sie so süß und zutraulich sind. Aber inzwischen haben sie sich so sehr vermehrt das sie den wenigen einheimischen Tieren die Nahrung weg fressen. Und allgemein die Pflanzenwelt dezimieren. Auf der kargen Insel wächst ja nicht wirklich viel. So ist das ja irgendwie immer wenn der Mensch in die Natur ein greift. Es kann nur schief gehen.

Pájara Mountain Sundowns

Traveling the FV-605 road from La Pared to Pájara. On the half way, a view kilometers after crossing the FV-618 to Cardón you will get higher into the mountains. After a view minutes you are at a high level of about 500 meters. And there is a bouth sides parking place with a footway up to the top. The Point is called Sicasumbre viewing point. You have a great view to both sides of the mountain there, and into a yellow red shining valley till Pájara. No plants or trees in your way. Fast moving clouds in the sky. So thats the place where I did my sundown pictures. But beware, its an very high wind blasting area. And with that wind it could be 10 to 15 degree colder.

Wenn man die FV-605 von La Pared kommend Richtung Pájara fährt, kommt man ein paar Kilometer nachdem sie die FV-618 Richtung Cardon gekreuzt hat zu einem Parkplatzt. Etwa auf 500 Meter Höhe. Dort gibt es einen Fußweg hoch auf die Bergspitze. Ausgeschildert sind Aussichtspunkte in Spanien immer als Mirador. Sehr wichtig, da es in den Bergen von Fuerteventura kaum Möglichkeiten gibt neben der Straße zu halten. Von dort hat man eine super Aussicht zu alles Seiten. Über das Tal das Richtung Norden nach Pájara führt. Oder Richtung Südspitze der Insel wo die Sonne unter geht. Das ist die Stelle von der aus ich diese Sonnenuntergansbilder gemacht habe.

The Masca trail, down to Los Gigantes

The Masca trail is one of the popular hiking trails on Tenerife. The trail starts in a small village called Masca on top of the mountains, and goes straigt down to the sea. You follow a creek down to an old canyon straigt away to the coast. It depends on the season, the creek could be empty or full with water till your knees. The village is on a high level at about 800 meters and on the end of the trail you will see the cliffs of Los Gigantes. There you hafe the chouce to walk back to Masca or to take a water taxi to the Los Gigantes village. You need good hiking boots ant it will takes you about 3,5 hours. And becarefull, there are some bad accidents every year.

San Sebastian de La Gomera

Some ferry impressions of San Sebastian de la Gomera. Thats what you see when you took the ferry from Tenerife to la Gomera. The harbour and the cityline of San Sebastian de la Gomera. The main village on la Gomera. Because La Gomera has no airport, you have to take the ferry or a boat to get there. And the island welcomes you with his nice little main village. It was out strartingpoint for a hikingtrip to La Gomeras well known rainforest out there in the hills. The so called fairytale forest. There are a lot of backpackers on La Gomera, its a great nature.

A desert vineyard

A destert vineyard. Thats how they growe grapes and make wine on Lanzarote. In an vulcano based desert area near the city of Yaiza. The stone walls are to protect the grapes from the wind. Ity a very try area, mostly no rain. Therefore they dig thouses holes wherethey put the grapes in. They are like a funnel. The stones are vulcano based. The stones suck the humidity right out of the morning dew and the funnel brings it to the plant. An impressive desert vineyard. It must be a very arduous kind of work, planting in such an try area. The Tailed Jay – Graphium Agamemnon

This is not a typical christmas posting. I have no girl with a sexy christmas dress for this year, or a spanking santa. This year its a butterfly called the Tailed Jay (Graphium Agamemnon). I have to admit that I have no idear about butterflys. I am just into pictures and I have never done butterfly pictures before. I googled the name, before I wrote the posting 🙂 This tailed jay lives in a huge butterfly house in Gran Canaria. I was there with my Sigma 150mm macro and a monopod. I actually came for the birds, not for the butterflys and it was my first time in an butterfly house. First I watched the russian tourists there who tries to catch some butterflys with there iPads and iPhones, but only got unsharp pictures 🙂 Well, thats the benefit of an camera with a fast lens and a high ISO range .-)

The great Dunas de Maspalomas

The great Dunas de Maspalomas are sand dunes in the south of Gran Canaria. Its a well known place for tourists. The gread task the Dunas de maspalomas is not the sand or the winds. Its to get your picture free of people, specialy free of nude people. The dunas are popular by the nudity communinty and very popular by the gay community. And both are don t like people with huge cameras. They always expect a peeping tom or pervert behind. And not a nature photographer. I was on there with my D800 the Nikon 14-24 and my Nikon 70-200mm. So I attract much attension.
